“There is only one of you in the world and you have one life, so be the best version of yourself and be proud of who you are.” -Mel Reid
In 2020 fashion, this month has kind of lasted a year for me with a mix of amazing and meh. The highlights: More than 40 women (!!) are participating as Team FTL in the Five Iron Golf leagues and we welcomed two professional golfers to the Fore the Ladies podcast! I really hope you check them out. Mel Reid was a straight shooter and Sophia Popov was incredibly articulate. I loved both of these conversations and I hope you do, too. We also launched a new series - Golf 101: WTF is [Fill in the Blank], which should be a fun primer for those tuning into the Masters this week.
On my radar is planning a few FTL introduction to golf clinics at the beginning of 2021 and a special golf trip with some of my closest golf gal pals.
As always, I hope you check out this month’s finds from me, Brooke and Sara. If you ever have suggestions for the newsletter, podcast or events, please email me at abby@foretheladies.net - I love hearing from y’all!

listening
I have been distracting myself from the year of insane news with, what else, murder stories! The two hosts of the Crime Junkie pod are great storytellers, and criminal justice advocates, for the subjects they detail each week. Bonus for the attention-challenged, each episode is under an hour.

Because you're a queen. I'm obsessed with this new logo and collection featuring the Queen of Clubs. The Foray Golf sweatshirt is one of the most comfortable pieces of apparel I own for on and off the course. If you aren't familiar with Foray Golf, they're a female-owned and operated golf apparel brand that you need in your closet. - Abby

While many may say the final major golf championship of the season is the Masters, they’re very mistaken! The U.S. Women's Open is the one to win for female professional golfers and will be conducted at Champions Golf Club in Houston this December. Follow their IG account @uswomensopen so you can meet players in the field, hear their stories and see why these women are worth watching. - Abby
staying warm
Never thought I’d say this, but I have been diggin’ the women’s pieces on Amazon Essentials. I always get cold playing golf in the fall and this additional layer does just the trick. The benefits are literally in the title: Lightweight Long-Sleeve Full-Zip Water-Resistant Packable Puffer Jacket. It’s also machine washable and comes in 14 colors!! - Abby

Whether it’s heart-warming or puts our jaws on the floor, we just love a good story. In a world of tik tok dances and hot takes on Twitter, sometimes we need to sit down with an in-depth tale, and The Golfer’s Journal gives us just that. The publication is mailed to subscribers on a quarterly basis, while their podcasts, events and newsletter keep us entertained in between.
We’re stoked to partner with TGJ beginning this month! For every new subscription purchased through Fore the Ladies, a portion of the sale will be donated back to LPGA*USGA Girls Golf if you use our link. Hit the link below to learn more and become a subscriber!
Pro tip: It’s a great gift for the holidays!
Ladies of Golf: Mel Reid
We welcomed our first professional golfer to the podcast! Mel Reid joined us for a fun conversation about her start with the game, how she hopes to inspire others and use her voice. Mel is so authentic from what you see on the golf course, to social media and of course in speaking with her. - Abby

Let's all be tree huggers! One of my favorite things about golf is being out in nature. I love seeing and hearing the different types of animals and birds that call the trees on the course home. However, I don't love it when I hit my shot into the trees and I lose my ball or I'm punching out from low hanging branches. Below are a few of my favorite products + initiatives that support my on course tree huggin and lovin. - Brooke
Boxed Water: It's important to hydrate on the course and that's why I prefer Boxed Water because it's plant based, recyclable, and sustainable in comparison to bottles and cans. If you post a photo or your favorite houseplant, tag @boxedwater and hashtag #betterplanet they'll plant a tree for you. So far, more than 1 million trees have been planted! - Brooke
Evolve Golf Tees: They’re founded on the mission of producing wood tees that plant trees. Through partnership with the Arbor Day foundation a portion of sales are donated and in 2019 10,000+ trees were planted. - Brooke
8billiontrees: A small company with a big mission. This is just about the trees: $20 can save 100 existing trees and plant 10 new ones. - Brooke
Flamingo Estate Hinoki Hand Sanitizer (can't get enough sanitizer these days): I love this product because I'd much rather my hands smell like a garden compared to alcohol. - Brooke
