Readers (Golf) Digest: Course Requirements

It’s a Saturday morning in the summer and I’m getting ready to play at my hometown course, Longshore Golf Course.

Wake up with a cold brew? Check. Pack one to two Poland Spring water bottles in my bag on my way out the door? Check. Gatorade at the turn? Check.

Fast forward to walking down the fairway on the 6th hole at Longshore and thinking to myself, “oh $h!t, I have to pee really badly.”

At Longshore Golf Course, players pass the bathroom after they finish the 9th hole and when they’re walking off the 14th green near the16th tee box. Having access to a bathroom more than once during a round of golf can be rare. But depending on their location, I have to strategically consider when I can start drinking all the beverages. I can’t hold it in that long, okay? I’m sure you can relate.

I have played rounds where there isn’t a bathroom on the course and the way I combat the 18 holes and four hours is by drinking little-to-no water. Those rounds of golf are usually less fun than the others. I’ll end the round with a headache because I’m dehydrated and have utter exhaustion. Or on the flip side, I’ll start chugging water on the back nine and I’m walking off the 18 green with an urgency to run off the green to use the bathroom. Cute visual, right?

In an ideal round, there should be at least three separate opportunities to use a restroom. I’ve collected a small list of courses where liquid math won’t be necessary. I hope there are others out there and I can’t wait to walk freely there. Cheers friends, to more refills! Have another one we should add to this list? Send us a DM on Instagram!
