Fore the Ladies Finds: April 2026

Hi all! Like many of you, I view The Masters Tournament as the unofficial start of my playing-golf season. Whether people know it's coming or not, the tournament manages to grab the attention of general sports fans, curious pop culture aficionados, and your uncle who has played golf once but still reminds you every year where he was in 1997 when Jim Nantz said, 'a win for the ages.'

You either saw on social media, read in an article or heard on the broadcast plenty of encomiums about the long-held rule of leaving phones behind at Augusta National Golf Club. Every year we're reminded of people standing a little taller, eyes watching the physical golfers instead of their screens, and reveling in a break from their devices.

My husband and I were two of the lucky patrons to walk the grounds of Augusta National on Sunday. I won't bore you with a recap of my day at the golf course, but the experience was a timely reminder to put my phone away when I play golf. My senses were crisper within the gates, where I absorbed the crunch of pine needles under my feet and marveled at the deep contours of the fairways and greens. Conversations felt more intimate in whispered tones, each patron trying to not be that person who spoke too loudly under the oak tree. I found myself more actively listening to my discussions rather than hearing and comprehending half in distraction.

I know when I play golf I can get caught up in making sure I capture the moment, answer emails and texts, and barely take in the course between shots. #Content doesn't need to be shared every time I play golf (y'all know I play) and shifting my focus to the ground beneath my feet and the people I share it with is a much better use of my time. Now that I've put this declaration into the world, I hope you hold me to it ;)
